Dancehall artiste Pamputae, whose given name is Eveana Henry, is celebrating the success of the recent launch of her Single Mothers Foundation.
The foundation has been launched to empower and strengthen women and also provide monetary support for mothers who struggle to provide for their children. The artiste explained that she hopes to secure employment for women and also use the initiative to send young mothers back to school.
Pamputae, in an interview with Jamaicatoday.com explained that the initiative was born from recognizing her own struggles as a single mother and it propelled her to pen the ‘Single Mother’s Song’. She said the feedback from the single has been overwhelming, as a lot of women started reaching out for help or to just express how they were impacted by the lyrics.
She said “I was moved by this and it helped to push my decision to start the foundation. The foundation just start right now but wherever God lead me I will go, I’m willing to help persons in whatever way I can.”
The launch event held at the C&C South Beach Café was well attended as members of the entertainment fraternity turned out in their numbers. Spice who was in attendance for the event donated Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) to the cause through her Grace Hamilton Women Empowerment Foundation. Also in attendance was Alaine, Stacious, Raine Seville, Shauna Chyn among others.
The artiste hopes to use proceeds from the lunch to provide back to school supplies for students for the 2019/2020 academic school year.
