Peter Phillips Remains The President Of The PNP

Dr Peter Phillips remains President of the People’s National Party (PNP) after beating Peter Bunting in the leadership race, getting 1,427 votes to Bunting’s 1,351. That was a margin of 76 votes.

The results were announced a short while ago at the National Arena, St Andrew, where hundreds of PNP delegates and supporters of the two campaigns gathered.

Today’s vote marked the end of nearly three months of often acrimonious campaigning from the political platform and comments on social media by the teams supporting the two contenders – One PNP of Dr Peter Phillips and Rise United of the Central Manchester MP, Peter Bunting.

Voting took place today, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Saturday, September 7 at the National Arena, St Andrew with 96 percent or 2,775 of the 2,990 delegates turning out to vote.

Voting slowed in the early afternoon after a heavy press of delegates in the morning session and by a few minutes to the close of voting at 4 p.m. rains had put a damper on the celebratory scenes of earlier in the morning.
