The Prime Minister has given instructions to the police and the National Works Agency (NWA) to reduce the congestion and improve traffic flow caused by road works in the Corporate Area.
The road works have led to major delays and traffic pile up causing frustration to commuters. The situation has became worse since Monday when the Three Miles traffic Hub was closed and full resumption was effected at schools.
According to a Jamaica House release last evening, Prime Minister Andrew Holness met with the Commissioner of Police, Major Antony Anderson; the head of the NWA, E.G. Hunter and senior management of the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC). Mr Holness expressed his deep concern with the displacement some people have suffered, the release said.
He gave directives that instructions should be given for specific alternative routes for the Three Miles, Hagley Park and Constant Spring area. Also that signage and security must be improved along the designated routes.
The Prime Minister further directed that there must be daily peak hour briefings in the media by the police and NWA regarding impact of the road improvement works on the routes.
