Police Probing St. Thomas Gangster’s Murder

St. Thomas-based gangster Rameish Simpson, also known as Rick, was gunned down by unknown assailants at his home in St. Thomas last night.

Reports are that Simpson and his wife drove up to their gate about 9 o’clock when they were pounced upon by unknown assailants and shot.

His wife who was in the car was injured in the attack and is currently in hospital.

The gunmen set the car ablaze car was set ablaze and seem to have set Simpson on fire as police say his body also had burn injuries.

Head of the Constabulary Communications Assistant Superintendent of Police Dahlia Garrick says the police are looking into several leads but no motive has been established.

She says she was unaware if Simpson was wanted by the police at the time of his killing.

Simpson was at the center of a highly publicized incident in 2015, when he and his cousin were taken into custody, following a police chase during which the police said they seized a high powered weapon from a vehicle, which he allegedly drove into the sea in a bid to avoid capture. He was later freed of gun and ammunition charges.

In 2009 he was shot and injured during an incident in St. Thomas and was rescued by Western St. Thomas MP James Robertson, who drove him to hospital.
