The Clarendon police are continuing their probe into a shooting incident in the crime plagued community of Effortville, which left one man dead and another being injured by gunmen on Wednesday night, April 25.
The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Romaine Miller, otherwise called “X-man”.
Police reports suggested that at about 8:40 p.m., residents were lyming in a section of the community, when several masked men with handguns and rifles pounced upon them.
They began threatening some of the residents, who fled the scene in fear.
However, Miller refused to run and was held by one of the men. A struggle ensued during which he was shot several times.
Another man saw what was happening and ran off, but the gunmen fired shots at him, before they retreated from the area.
The police were later summoned and Miller was pronounced dead at hospital.
The other man, who was shot in one of his legs, remains hospitalized.
The incident follows Sunday’s shooting in which a 14-year-old Vere Technical High female student was injured by a stray bullet.
Gunmen opened fire at a man, who ran through her yard and a bullet caught the teenager as she prepared for church.
The police are searching for the man, who was being chased as they say he is known to be involved in criminal activities.
