PPV Licence Holds Gets 3 Months Extension To Renew

Understanding the impact of the coronavirus pandemic has had and is having on the PPV industry, Minister of Transport and Mining, Robert Montague, while making his contribution to the Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, announced that an extension for renewals have been granted.

The new deadline for the renewal of public passenger vehicle (PPV) licences Will now end on September 30th.

Minister Montague, encouraged PPV operators to utilise the Transport Authority’s online payment mechanisms to renew their licences and said “in-office renewals without an appointment will attract a $10,000 [fee]” and that “additionally, the police record requirement for renewals is waived for this year.”

Also, persons seeking to change the class of their licence will be able to do so, provided they meet the authority’s requirements, but not so for, hackney licences in the Kingston Metropolitan Transport Region.
