Rockfort halted Browns Town’s run at the top of Zone B in the Magnum Kingston and St Andrew Football Association Super League on Saturday, with a 1-0 win at Rockfort.
Calvin Campbell scored the only goal in the match and it enabled Rockfort to maintain third position in the zone on 16 points, the same as Central Kingston, who tagged second-place Mountain View 2-0 at Stadium East with goals from Karim Brown and Richard Crooks.
With Browns Town and Mountain View losing, it allows the chasing Rockford and Central Kingston to close the gap between them. Browns Town have already qualified for the next phase of the competition with 26 points, while Mountain View are on 21.
In the zone’s other game on Saturday, Santos, having been already relegated to Major League, found some form to beat fellow strugglers Rae Town 2-1.
Meanwhile, the two matches in Zone A ended in draws. Barbican and Maverley/Hughenden ended 0-0 and Real Mona and Maxfield Park 1-1.
Barbican lead the zone on 26 points with Molynes United in second on 22, the same as third-place Maverley/Hughenden.
