The St Ann police are reporting a reduction in serious crimes except for murder so far this year when compared to the same period in 2018.
Head of the St Ann police, Senior Superintendent Calvin Small told journalists that between January 1 and Thursday, October 10 there had been 222 serious incidents or 20 fewer than for the same period last year when 242 serious incidents were reported.
However, murder is up by two this year, from 32 last years.
SSP Small was speaking following the monthly meeting of the St Ann Municipal Corporation (SAMC). He said the police continued to be concerned about some troubled communities. He named Parry Town, Steer Town and Belle Air (Phase 2) sometimes referred to as Crocodile City. He said there was still a concern even though there had been no issues in those communities in the last month.
