The 2018 staging of the Keller Williams Jamaica Football Tournament got underway on Saturday and Sunday, November 3 and 4, 2018 at Drax Hall Sports grounds in St. Ann.
The tournament featured the following schools on its opening weekend:
Mar Jam Preparatory School, United Learning Center, Glenn Preparatory School, Tomlinson’s Preparatory School, Olympus Preparatory School, and Iona Preparatory School
The tournament has a unique configuration, as it is the only one of its kind in Jamaica. It features three football matches being played simultaneously with two age groups vying for the top spot. The schools compete in the under nine (U-9) categories and or the under 13 categories. Teams can be mixed with boys and girls playing on the same team.
The final weekend of the tournament will be Saturday, November 10, 2018, and Sunday, November 11, 2018, at the Drax Hall Football Field.
This the second staging of this football tournament.
It’s staged through a partnership between Abendana & Abendana, attorneys –at – law and one of Jamaica’s largest real estate brokerages, Keller Williams Jamaica Realty.
“The goal of the tournament is to help children in St. Ann and other parishes to develop their skills by playing in a high-quality competitive environment,” said Nathan Geddes Morrison attorney from Abendana & Abendana.
“The decision to sponsor and partner with Mr. Morrison on this tournament was simply a continuation of a tradition started by the former Director Joan Marsh who always believed strongly in supporting community football in the parish of St. Ann,” said Rory Marsh, managing director of Keller Williams.
“The initiative has seen NCB and Bookstore come on board as sponsors since the first staging. Going forward we hope to include more schools in this exciting format of a football tournament” said Morrison.
