Teen Killed In Fire Set By Arsonists

A school girl who was injured in a fire set by arsonists in St Andrew Sunday died on Wednesday. November 28.

Police say the work of arsonists displaced a family of six and led to the death of a teenager and the injuring of two of her family members on Race Course Road in Salisbury Plain, St. Andrew on Sunday, November 25.

Dead is 15-year-old Tashai Munda, a student of the Salisbury Plain.

Reports from the Lawrence Tavern Police are that about 11:00 p.m., Sunday, the family was awakened by a fire that engulfed the living room of their three-bedroom dwelling house. All six occupants managed to escape through a window of the house. However, Tashai, her mother and grandmother were taken to hospital for injuries they received. Tashai and her mother received severe burns to their bodies and were admitted in serious condition. The grandmother received minor burns to her right hand and was treated and released.

Tashai succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, November 28.

Investigations continue.
