The Globe Goes Black & Fist Up For Tuesday

Today, Tuesday, June 2nd was not an ordinary day as, from the crack of dawn, all social media intensified in darkness, as over 9 per cent of posts made was that of a black image or a full black fisted icon. This was done to once again end violence and injustice against blacks.

The movement was originally organized by the music community, which dubbed it Black Lives Matter.

It allowed voices around the world to express their outrage at the killing of innocent black people in the United States.

International celebrities such as Nick Cannon, Tami Roman, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Usher, Coldplay, Kelly Rowland, and others were among those who participated in Black Out Tuesday.

Locally, a slew of business and media personalities and celebrities also joined the movement, including Dancehall King – Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, D Angel, Chris Martin, Spice, Mario Evon and Minister Marion Hall.

International streaming platforms, Apple Music and Spotify BLACKED OUT generated a black life matters playlist.
