Starting today, you might be seeing a new kind of meditation studio roaming the streets of NYC. BE TIME is a bus that has been converted into a mobile decompression chamber for busy New Yorkers. It will be in the Madison Square Park area today and they’ll be offering free classes all week in different parts of the city.
Meditation studios are becoming more and more popular, but this mobile version brings a new level of convenience. If you’re not sure about the idea of meditating inside a bus on a busy city street, you’re definitely not alone. But as soon as you make your way inside the soundproofed space—complete with aromatherapy and weighted blankets—you might just forget what planet you’re on.
The “bus” was designed by two architects—the founders of AIDIA STUDIO—and McKenzie, a Miami-based boutique design, build, and custom fabrication firm, and the ceiling is scattered in thousands of calming LED lights that slowly shift color patterns. The mobile studio will have open meditation time and guided sessions at 30-minute intervals. This “meditation for the people” will have as many times and locations as possible to make it as easy as possible to pop in. They’ll also be offering student discounts and aim to provide free meditation at least once a week to the community or at a school.
The schedule will be available on their website, and you can also follow them on social media (@betimepractice) to see where they’re headed next.
