Three Charged For Ganja In St Elizabeth

Detectives assigned to the Narcotics detectives have arrested and charged three men for breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act, following an operation in Lacovia, St. Elizabeth on Monday, May 7.

They are:

Glenford Welcome 56-year-old, mechanic and Leroy Gordon, 39-year-old, farmer of both of Port Maria, St Mary and Kerron Wilson 37-year-old, mechanic of Vineyard District, St Elizabeth. The three were charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, use of conveyance and conspiracy.

Reports are that about 5:00 p.m., the detectives conducted anti-narcotics operations in Lacovia, where two motor vehicles were signaled. During a search of one of the cars, occupied by Wilson and Welcome, fourteen black plastic bags with loose ganja weighing approximately one hundred and ninety-five pounds, with an estimated street value of seven hundred and eighty thousand dollar (J$780,000) was seized.

Gordon, who was driving the second motor car, was also taken into custody under reasonable suspicion. The accused men are scheduled to appear in the St. Elizabeth Parish Court on Thursday, May 10.
