Is there anything better than stretching out like a cat in a warm patch of Jamaican sun? According to the world’s largest travel site, TripAdvisor, our little land of wood and water is the number one Caribbean travel destination, and the 14th best worldwide.
The Best Destinations awards were determined using an algorithm that assessed the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions in destinations across the world, along with traveler booking interest on TripAdvisor, for a period of 12 months.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says he is pleased that the island has received such incredible tributes from the acclaimed the TripAdvisor travel website. Minster Bartlett says, “We have been increasing our efforts to better meet the needs of our visitors, by focusing on securing meaningful investments and improving on the variety of quality offerings in the destination. We want to thank all of our visitors for choosing Jamaica and we are always ready to welcome them to our shores.”
The travel website promotes all things Jamaican: from bird watching in the forests, the heritage sites of Trelawny, snorkeling and shopping in Montego Bay and the spas of Ocho Rios, to the authentic music clubs of Kingston and Montego Bay and street cook shops downtown. TripAdvisor manages more than 760 million reviews and ratings covering over 8.3 million accommodations, restaurants, adventure tours, airlines, and cruises globally.
