Approximately 10 people were injured in a multiple-motor-vehicle crash along Mandela High Way on Friday. Reports are that the incident took place at about 3:00 p.m.
Police say they are still trying to determine the cause of the crash but one motorist, who was travelling on the roadway at the time, said the driver of a car stopped suddenly to avoid a collision. This caused a chain reaction of crashes along the roadway.
“Approximately 10 people were injured in the incident there were no reports of any fatalities,” a detective from Ferry Police station said.
The police have since issued a call for motorists to exercise greater caution when travelling on the highway, especially with roadworks now taking place in the area. News of the crash comes weeks after a police officer was seriously injured earlier this month along the same roadway.
