Woman Charged For Ganja At Airport

A United States citizen attempting to leave the island with ganja was arrested and charged on Tuesday, August 7, at the Sangster International Airport, St. James.

Twenty-eight-year-old Simone Brown of Illinois, Chicago was arrested for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act

Reports from the Narcotics Division are that about 4:50 p.m. a police team, along with Port Security personnel were conducting special operations at the Montego Bay Shipping Terminal when Brown approached the checkpoint and was searched. The ganja weighing 2.35 ounces was found in her possession.


She was subsequently arrested and charged for possession of ganja and taking steps to export ganja. She is scheduled to appear in the St. James Parish Court on Friday, August 10.
