The identity of the woman who was shot and killed during an attack in which dancehall artiste Rygin King and another recording artiste were shot and injured, has been identified as a 28-year-old customer service representative, Sashalee Blackwood, of Irwin Meadows in St James.
The shooting took place along a section of the roadway in Struie district, Westmoreland on Sunday afternoon, June 28.
According to the police, at about 3.15 pm, Blackwood and friends were travelling in three separate motor vehicles when on reaching a section of the main road in Struie district in the Bethel Town area of Westmoreland, the grey Toyota Mark X car in which she was travelling, was involved in a collision, which caused a tyre to blow out, and while the tyre was being changed, another Toyoto motorcar drove and a man brandishing a handgun reportedly, opened gunfire hitting Rygin King and the two others.
They were then rushed to a hospital, where Blackwood was pronounced dead and Rygin King and the other recording artiste who’s name is yet to be released, were admitted for treatment.
It is alleged that the gun man was trailing Rygin King, however, the police In Westmoreland says they are investigating.
